Bitcoin QT

When you start mining you need to to put you urned Bitcoins (BTC)  somewhere  “Bitcoin Wallet”. Because Bitcoin is an internet based currency, you need a place to keep your Bitcoins. Got to http://www.bitcoin.org and download the Bitcoin client for your Operating System.

Personally i prefer a Local wallet to a Internet (online) one these have known to be hacked from time to time, although i use an online wallet with the exchange's.

Bitcoin-QT is Wallet software. You need a wallet to put your bitcoins in :) Thats why i use Bitcoin-QT

Bitcoin's

Bitcoin uses peer-to-peer technology to operate with no central authority or banks; managing transactions and the issuing of bitcoins is carried out collectively by the network. Bitcoin is open-source; its design is public, nobody owns or controls Bitcoin and everyone can take part. Through many of its unique properties, Bitcoin allows exciting uses that could not be covered by any previous payment system.

Check this  before you start just so you have a general idea of what your doing.

Software

What software do you need ?

BitMinter

What is BitMinter?

Bitminter is a mining pool that aims to make it easy for anyone to make bitcoins. Everyone should have the opportunity to take part in the currency revolution that is Bitcoin. We create new bitcoins and help process transactions. If you take part in this work then you will get your share of the coins we create and the income from transaction fees.

What do I need?

Making bitcoins with a normal computer is not profitable due to electricity costs. But if you have a good graphics card you can try it to learn how things work while you decide whether to buy ASICs. Bitcoin ASIC devices is efficient hardware for making bitcoins. The Bitcoin wiki has a comparison of hardware.

Getting Started

1. Register

2.  Bitminter client: Hit the start button to start Bitminter client. You get bitcoins for the work it does. Works on Windows, Linux and Mac. Requires updated Java.

Other clients: bfgminer, cgminer, etc. Connect to the pool at stratum+tcp://mint.bitminter.com:3333 (Stratum) or http://mint.bitminter.com:8332 (GBT or getwork). As user name put your Bitminter user name, an underscore, then a worker name, e.g. DrHaribo_asic3. In case you have firewall issues, port 443 and 5050 (Stratum) and 80 (GBT/getwork) are also available. Any password is accepted.

3. Get a wallet to transfer your coins to. Make sure you secure your wallet.

 Reward System

Your work is recorded in shifts. When we create a new block you get a share of the income proportional to how much of the work in the last 10 completed shifts is yours. This reward system is known as PPLNS with shifts. From 2013.04.20 onwards there is a 1% fee on mining income.

Not only new coins are paid out but also income from transaction fees. To increase income further we also generate namecoins, which take no extra effort. You can read more about namecoins at dot-bit.org.

What is Bitcoin?

Bitcoin is a digital currency. You can use bitcoins to pay for goods and services and there are exchanges where you can buy and sell bitcoins. There is no central bank and anyone can make new coins. Coins are created at a controlled rate and there will never be more than 21 million coins. Watch this video for an introduction:

BFGminer

BFGminer how to begin?

In order to mine you need miners! So also check the Hardware section, i use ANTminers and ASIC block erupters with i have in a powered USB hub, Most problem occur with cheap underpowered USB hubs !! so make sure you have good equipment! that will save you a lot of headache, trust me i've been there and dune that.

Windows needs drivers so don't forget to install them, http://www.silabs.com/products/mcu/pages/usbtouartbridgevcpdrivers.aspx
or download them directly here http://www.silabs.com/Support%20Documents/Software/CP210x_VCP_Windows.zip

So if you have your hardware sorted you need software, download the latest version of the BFGminer software. That can be downloaded at the website http://www.bfgminer.org.
In order to use ANTminers and ASIC Block Erupters at the same time you need to run the software twice i use 2 folders.

Last but not least i min with the Guys at BitMinters so that where my example is set up to direct the work DONT FORGET to edit the { USER_WORKER } setting to your own! there is no need to fill out a password it is not used

ASIC BLOCK ERUPTER
C:\bfgminer  for ASIC Block Erupters
and this is how i start BFGminer software (personally i use a .bat file but you can also use a shortcut)

C:\bfgminer\bfgminer.exe -S Icarus:all -o mint.bitminter.com:3333 -u USER_WORKER -p x --icarus-options 115200:1:1 --icarus-timing 3.0=100

You can tweak the timing setting at the end and the options one but i feel it has never brought me anything so i use it like this.

ANTMINERS
C:\bfgminerANT  for ANTminers
and this is how i start BFGminer software (personally i use a .bat file but you can also use a shortcut)

C:\bfgminerANT\bfgminer.exe -S antminer:all -o mint.bitminter.com:3333 -u USER_WORKER -p x --set-device antminer:clock=x0981

I overclock my ANTminers by default to 2.0 GH/s so i set 0981

Hashrate  ANTminer:clock

1.6GH/s     0781 (DEFAULT)
1.8GH/s     0881
2.0GH/s     0981
2.2GH/s     0A81

Overclocking in general:
Note that when overclocked the ANTminers will run hotter and require additional cooling, overclocking but especially overheating can result in damaged hardware.
Proceed with caution.  U1 may become unstable and crash if overclocked too much.

if you only have one type of course use only one!

now i made 2 .bat file's to start up my "mining rig" when the computer starts

This is what i originaly found i used this as a base for my story

1) Download/Install this driver: http://www.silabs.com/Support%20Documents/Software/CP210x_VCP_Windows.zip

2) Download bfgminer windows version here:  http://bfgminer.org

3) Unzip bfgminer files to your computer; for example C:/bfgminer/ (this is the path used in my example startup shortcut and/or (.bat) file

4) Create a shortcut to the bfgminer.exe file

Right click on your desktop and choose New -> Shortcut; use the browse option to locate the bfgminer.exe file that you unzipped earlier.

5) Right click on the new shortcut and click “Properties”.  In the “Target:” update to show as follows (replace pool details with your own user):

C:\bfgminer\bfgminer.exe -S antminer:all -o mint.bitminter.com:3333 -u bitcoinco_demo -p x --set-device antminer:clock=x0781

6) Double click the shortcut to start BFGminer and start mining.

Or with cgminer download the PDF user guide here: https://github.com/AntMiner/AntGen1/blob/master/manual/AntMiner-U1%20user%20guide.pdf?raw=true

Overclocking:

Note that when overclocked the Antminers will run hotter and require additional cooling; overclocking and overheating can result in damaged hardware.  Proceed with caution.  U1 may become unstable and crash if overclocked too much.

To overclock the U1 set the antminer:clock setting when running cgminer.  Use the following table to choose your hash speed:

Hashrateantminer:clock

1.6GH/s0781 (DEFAULT)

1.8GH/s0881

2.0GH/s0981

2.2GH/s0A81

Why this site?

I made this site because i couldn't find a complete tutorial for setting up mining with ANTminers and asic block erupter with the possibility to overclock.
